Ahead of the opening of the door of the exhibition Geneva Motor Show, Renault announced the official name for two seat sports car. The car was named 2017 Alpine A110. Carrying the sporty character, the name is taken from one of the Renault cars ever to win the rally competition in the 70’s.
Previously, this vehicle is named Alpine Vision concept which had appeared in the French palace. The Two-passenger sports car is claimed to have a lighter weight with a compact shape. The 2017 Alpine A110 light weights obtained thanks to the use of aluminum in some parts of the vehicle body. This maximizes the potential and ability of the car in its entirety.
2017 Alpine A110 is expected to give a big surprise to the competitors in its class, such as the Audi TT and Porsche Cayman 718. Renault revealed that this car has an aluminum platform on the upper body that reduces the weight of the car so that the car can go more agile. The detailed specifications about this car will reportedly be announced immediately at the Geneva Motor Show.
To be sure, the car has a 1.8 liter engine is a 250 horsepower and can reach speeds of 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.5 seconds. Renault plans to make about 3,000 Alpine per year at their headquarters in France. This car uses a design language that is not easily cracked by age. The ability of sports car combined with light weight vehicles and compact form is believed to be able to repeat the success of Berlinette.
